Leicester City have finally acquired its first summer player.
Alex Smithies, who joined on a free transfer, was the first summer transfer for the Foxes.
At the King Power Stadium, the 32-year-old has agreed to a two-year contract.
He told the club’s website: “It feels amazing. It’s the first time I’ve been to the new training ground and it’s just incredible.
“What a place to work and come and thrive. I’m really looking forward to it.”
In other news, Chelsea have agreed on personal terms with Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana but are yet to have a bid accepted by the Foxes.
According to Footmercato, Fofana has agreed on personal terms with Chelsea ahead of a possible switch to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea are desperate to sign the France U21 international but have had a couple of offers turned down by Leicester.
That is apparently the only hurdle the Blues still need to cross.
