A passenger has been confirmed dead while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries as two vehicles colluded at the Abakaliki-Afikpo Expressway, in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The accident, which occurred on Sunday evening involved a Mitsubishi truck and a Toyota bus at the Onueke area of Ebonyi State.
According to PUNCH, a reliable source in the area said the accident took place amid a heavy downpour in the area.
“A terrible accident just occurred along Abakaliki-Onueke Road, close to Onuzo Nwedu Bus Stop, one casualty was allegedly recorded, the position of other passengers not yet known as of the time of this report, they were rushed to the hospital
“I learnt that a 911 lorry coming from Onueke collided with an L-300 bus coming from Abakaliki. The accident occurred during the rainfall, and one of the drivers had faulty wipers,” the source said.
The State Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Chukwurah Winifred, who confirmed the incident said three persons, who were all males, were involved in the accident.
Winifred said while one person died, the other two victims were rescued by officers of the command and rushed to the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, for treatment.
