According to Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Nigeria has qualified to be a failed state. Obi made the remarks on Monday during the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) 2022 conference opening ceremony in Lagos.
Speaking on the theme ‘Bold Transitions,’ Peter Obi said Nigeria needs an urgent transition from a highly insecure country to a secured one.
He asserts that the nation satisfies all three requirements for a failed state.
Obi said Nigeria is no longer in charge of its territories and about 80 percent of the oil produced in the country are been stolen.
The former Anambra governor noted that with the level of insecurity and economic “mess,” “next year’s election should be about character, capacity, competence.”
Obi added that what Nigerians need in 2023 is “a visionary leader.”
