The Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee is meeting with governorship candidates from the party’s 36 states at the party’s headquarters in Wuse, Abuja.
The meeting is being attended by all PDP governorship candidates except the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who is currently out of the country.
Similarly, it was reported that Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, who was also absent when the meeting started, sent his regrets while indicating that he would join as the session went on.
In advance of the elections in 2023, the closed-door meeting is described as an interactive session between the party national leadership and the party candidates.
The meeting comes amid calls for the national chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, to step aside by Nyesom Wike’s camp, as part of conditions for resolution of the impasse over the choice of Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as the party’s presidential running mate.
