Ibadan man remanded in prison for killing woman with pestle during fight

50-year-old man, Fatai Gbeminiyi, has been remanded at the Abolongo Correctional Centre, Oyo Town, for allegedly killing woman with a pestle in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Magistrate Emmanuel Idowu of the Iyaganku magistrates’ court in Ibadan, who did not take the plea of the accused, ordered that he be kept at the correctional facility pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) and adjourned to October 27.

The prosecutor, Inspector Iyabo Oladoyin, told the court that Gbeminiyi unlawfully caused the death of one Tinuke Olayiwola (39) on August 20.

She said Gbeminiyi clubbed Tinuke to death at the Abebi area of Ibadan using a pestle during a fight.

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that a 25-year-old man, Najib Shehu, was arrested for killing his stepmother with pestle in Katsina State.
