The chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Walid Jibrin, has stepped down from his position.
He disclosed this at the National Executive Council meeting currently going on in Abuja.
The resignation is not unconnected to the internal strife rocking the party which is engendered by the dispute between party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike.
The party has been embroiled in crisis since the completion of its presidential primary election as Wike felt shortchanged. The situation aggravated after Atiku ignored Wike and picked Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as his running mate.
