A 24-year-old woman identified as Emmy Serumula has been arrested by the police for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend to death in Limpopo, South Africa.
Serumula allegedly killed her boyfriend, Charles Kamogelo, following an incident of domestic violence that took place at Marapong township, in Lephalale, on Saturday night, 10 September 2022.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday, September 12.
“The Police were summoned to Marapong Health Care Center at 21h37 about a man who was brought to the center after having been stabbed and on arrival, they found a man lying dead with stab wound. A case of murder was then opened and policing commenced with investigations,” he stated.
“Preliminary investigation indicated that the deceased and his alleged girlfriend had an altercation while at Marapong Extension 1 and during the argument, the suspect stabbed the deceased with a sharp object. The victim was rushed to the hospital where he later succumbed to the injuries. He was identified as Charles Kamogelo aged 24 from Mafikeng.
“The woman, identified as Emmy Serumula (pictured), was traced and arrested. She appeared in Lephalale magistrate court today facing a charge of murder and the case was postponed to 19 September for bail application.”
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe said no one is going to be spared or treated with leniency when it comes to issues of Gender-Based Violence.
