The manager of Bayern Munich, Julian Nagelsmann, acknowledged that he was relieved that former striker Robert Lewandowski did not score against them on Tuesday.
The Bundesliga champions defeated Barca at the Allianz Arena in their Champions League group match thanks to goals from Lucas Hernandez and Leroy Sane.
With two draws, five losses, and an overall score differential of 16-4, the Blaugrana have now gone winless in their previous seven trips to Bavaria.
Bayern’s victory followed three league matches that ended in draws.
“Barca had the better chances in the first half. We had to rely on [keeper] Manuel [Neuer].
“After the break we were more aggressive. We quickly scored two goals. We basically won because of higher efficiency.
“From our side I am also happy Lewandowski did not score against us tonight,” Nagelsmann said.
