Kogi businessman regains freedom after two months in Kidnappers’ den

Alhaji Mohammed Jamiu, a businessman, has finally regained his freedom after two months in captivity.

Jamiu was abducted from his residence at Idare quarters in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State during the Sallah celebration on 9th July 2022.

He was kidnapped by gunmen posing as business associates shortly after he returned from Eid praying ground.

He was released by his abductors on Thursday night.

A souce familiar with the development disclosed that a reasonable sum was paid to the kidnappers.

“They just released our brother, Alhaji Mohammed Jamiu Idris. We have been praying for over two months to see that this come to pass. Even though we paid ransom for his release, we thank Almighty Allah that he came back alive.” Daily Post quoted a source as saying.

The source added that it is not the first time Jamiu, the owner of Always Petroleum and Energy Service Limited had an encounter with kidnappers.

He was said to have been kidnapped in 2019 in Okene in one of his fuel stations but was rescued by military operatives after a few days in captivity, with one officer and kidnapper killed in the encounter.
