The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)’s Osun Sector Command has announced that it has resolved the Gbongan-Ibadan expressway’s traffic jam.
Early on Friday, there was a traffic jam as a result of the National Association of Nigerian Students’ (NANS) ongoing protest against the ongoing dispute between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
Speaking to reporters in Osogbo on Friday, Sector Commander Paul Okpe said that as soon as he learned that a protest had caused traffic gridlock and hindered easy vehicle movement, his officers and unit commanders sprang into action.
“The blockade had been removed and motorists ply the routes without any inconvenience.
“The Command’s unit commanders and other sister security agencies were present at the scene of the protest to ensure there is no more gridlock and breakdown of law and order.”
Okpe, however, said the command would monitor the situation to ensure there was no more blockage across Osun for easy vehicular movements.
Recall that on September 13, 2022, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) led students within the South-West region to protest the long-running Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike which began on February 14, 2022.
