Jose Peseiro, the head coach of Nigeria’s national team, has replaced Leon Balogun in his squad to face Algeria in a friendly next week with Valentine Ozornwafor.
Despite playing the full 90 minutes in QPR’s goalless draw with Stoke City, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) reports that Balogun has sustained an injury.
After the game, Michael Beale praised the former Rangers defender, saying that his background gave the team a lot of composure.
Ozornwafor, already capped three times in the past for Nigeria, is a former U-20 international and one of the few left-footed centre backs in the Super Eagles at the moment.
The Super Eagles will face the Desert Foxes on September 27.
