The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has enumerated the major problems Nigeria is battling.
Obi, who is a frontline president candidate for the 2023 elections, spoke on Friday in an interview with CNN.
Obi stressed that insecurity must be tackled headlong to achieve sufficient food supplies.
“You have to get farmers to go back to farms and ensure that the vast land of the North is cultivated.
“You have to start pulling people out of poverty as quickly as possible.
“You have to reduce, aggressively, the cost of governance and deal with corruption.”
On the importation of refined fuel despite being Africa’s largest oil producer, Obi called for increased private sector participation.
“There is no reason why our refineries cannot work. The private sector should be encouraged to build refineries.
“Remove fuel subsidy, use the resources to support critical areas of production”, the former Anambra governor added.
