Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has said he is happy to still be helping his team after equalling Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard’s Premier League assist record at the weekend.
De Bruyne performed admirably in Manchester City’s weekend 3-0 victory over Wolves.
The Belgium international picked up another two assists during the encounter.
His two assists were the midfielder’s 92 assists in his 217 appearances in the Premier League — the same number that Gerrard managed in more than twice as many games.
It put De Bruyne seventh on the all-time list, with Manchester United’s Ryan Giggs top with 162.
Speaking after the game, De Bruyne said at his post-match press conference: “It is good to help my team.
“I tried to create as many chances as possible for my team and if they score I will get an assist. It works together and it is good I can do that. I have been doing the same thing since I came here. It is still going on.”
