Airstrikes: Zamfara residents warned over Turji’s planned reprisal attack

Residents of Zamfara state have raised alarm over planned retaliatory attack by fearsome bandit kingpin, Bello Turji’s gangs.

However, Security operatives have been alerted of the imminent reprisal attacks on Gusau-Sokoto-Zaria roads following the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) bombardment of his camps in Zamfara forest.

A source who spoke in confidence for security reasons disclosed that the gangs may stage reprisal attacks over the killing of scores of bandits in the forest.

“Please be careful, bandits are currently in the general area of Tureta, Anka axis. Just rustled hundreds of cows from Birisawa village heading towards Mallanji village in Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto State”, Daily Post quoted the source to have said

The source further warned that commuters along Sokoto – Gusau Tsafe – Funtua road should avoid those areas for now..

Recall that a few days ago, two of the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) fighter jets attacked the camps belonging to Turji and killed scores of bandits in Zamfara forest.

However, the military and police operatives have vowed that they would engage the bandits in a fire for fire operation, pointing out that they were ready to carry war to the bandits’ dens in the forests.

Recently, the State commissioner of police, Mr. Kolo Yusuf had told newsmen during a press briefing that he did not come to Zamfara State to play but to show superiority and professionalism to the bandits.

“Most of my assignments in my police carrier have been total gun battle with terrorists and bandits. So I am sending a red signal to them that it will no longer be business as usual,” he added.
