Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, denounced the lynching of two herders by a mob in the state’s Birni Gwari LGA on Sunday.
Recall how two herders in Birnin Gwari LGA were lynched by mobs on suspicion of being bandit informants.
Following this, Governor Nasir El-Rufai issued a warning to locals in the LGA not to lynch a suspect in an effort to seize control of the law.
The governor, while condemning the mob action, warned residents to be law-abiding and stop action that may lead to violence and a complete breakdown of law and order, according to a statement released on Sunday by Mr. Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State.
El-Rufai, while expressing deep concern over the mob attack on two herders, further advised residents to desist from extra-judicial killings.
He further pointed out that the only way to express grievances and criminal-related issues is to report to law enforcement agents for immediate action.
The statement further appealed to families of the victims to remain calm and directed security agencies to conduct thorough investigations towards fishing out the perpetrators.
