Professor Patrick Adebisi Olusegun Adegbuyi, a Professor of Mechanical Engineering Design And Material Technology at the Department Of Mechanical Engineering of the Lagos State University (LASU) invented a fueless, environment-friendly power generator.
The invention and ingenuity of the professor is part of solution to the perennial challenges of erratic, epileptic power supply in Nigeria.
Prof, Adenike Boyo represented the VC, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bell at the inaugural lecture
The ingenious LASU academic pride and industrial hope announced this cheering scientific breakthrough and presented the pictorial slide of the generator while delivering the 86th inaugural lecture of the Best State University in Nigeria on Tuesday.
Doing an in-depth justice to the topic: Exploitation Of Materials And Material Properties For Machine Design In A Developing Economy, the academic engineer explained that the power challenge which had negatively impacted Nigeria’s economy made him put on his thinking cap and came up with the innovative idea which has now transformed into the realistic invention of the fueless generating set.
According to the professor of Mechanical Engineering, Engineering is a field of study that applies the findings of science in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry to invent, design and build things to solve practical problems.
And that: “Engineering is the act of directing the great sources of energy in nature for the use and convenience of man.
“My area of Specialization is Machine Design and production with emphasis on material properties which is the criteria for material selection in the Design and production of Engineering components and machines;

“Technology is the ability to develop the modality, procedure and process to use what is available in terms of raw materials to produce what is needed in all spheres of human needs like engineering, medicine, agriculture, housing, transportation, education, and politics”. Adegbuyi stated.
Building on this foundation, Prof. Adegbuyi, popularly called PAO among colleagues in the academic community, challenged himself and others to help solve some societal problems within their intellectual purview.
These led him and his team to the inventions of the Nigerian-relevant generator and even other cost-effective machines whose materials are all locally sourced for long-lasting utility even with pocket-friendly maintenance.
