Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president, has refuted reports that he praised Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos.
According to Obasanjo’s observations, only those with military training make effective people managers.
Kehinde Akinyemi, the ex-Head of State’s spokesperson, released the rebuttal on Sunday.
Obasanjo claimed that he was unable to make any remarks that would have diminished the honour of his military career.
A group called “National Patriots” claimed in a widely shared WhatsApp message that the retired general had called Tinubu a “super politician.”
“If you are looking for a thoroughbred politician of masters class, visit Lagos Bourdillon,” he was quoted saying.
Obasanjo stressed that only individuals trained by the armed forces had the capability to properly manage men and materials.
“I cannot disparage my noble profession for politics that has no formal training. This is false and fake,” he said.
