Michael Owen, a former England striker, praised Roberto Firmino after Liverpool defeated Rangers 7-1 in the Champions League.
Owen also advised Jurgen Klopp to start Firmino against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Brazilian has scored eight goals in 12 appearances for the Reds so far this season.
He also netted twice against Rangers, as they closed in on the Round of 16 qualification.
Owen said: “I can’t imagine he’s not playing,” in a statement to BT Sport.
“He’s had such a good season and is in such good form that I don’t think Jurgen Klopp can leave him out at the weekend.”
Liverpool is 14 points behind league leaders Arsenal and 13 points behind City.
