Reece James, a defender for Chelsea, has spoken out following reports that he might be forced to withdraw from the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup due to an injury.
James posted a message on his Twitter page informing followers of his desperation to get well in time for the World Cup next month.
The England international tweeted at the weekend: “The race against time is on… But we won’t give up.
Reports had earlier emerged that James was expected to be sidelined for eight weeks with a knee problem.
Therefore, James’ place in England’s World Cup squad is now doubtful for the upcoming tournament, which is set to start on November 20.
The right-back picked up the injury in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.
He had to be replaced by captain Cesar Azpilicueta in the 62nd minute, but after scans, the injury now seems more serious than initially thought.
