Liz Truss has stepped down as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, UK, after a month and half in office.
She made the announcement 24 hours after saying she was a fighter and not a quitter, and so would continue in office.
She announced her resignation on Thursday at 10 downing street, the British seat of power.
She said she had to resign as leader of the conservative party because she could not deliver on her promises and mandates on which she was elected as the party’s leader.
Truss said she had informed King Charles of her decision.
Truss succeeds Boris Johnson who resigned his appointment as PM in July over a series of scandals and poor fiscal and economic decisions.
Liz Truss said she would stay on until a successor is chosen in the next week.
