A storey building along West-End, Asaba, Delta State capital has just collapsed.
Although it is unknown if there have been casualties, some people have been taken to the hospital as rescue operations have stepped up.
A multi-million naira supermarket serves as the primary tenant of the structure, which is located next to St. Patrick College and directly across from the well-known Emeka Ofor Plaza.
Up until the conclusion of the 2019 general elections, the All Progressive Congress (APC) state chapter occupied the structure.
After the APC moved out, it was renovated and remoulded for new tenants including the supermarket.
Although it could be ascertained what was responsible for the collapse, sources said several bags of rice were off loaded into the top floor of the building earlier in the day.
The building has an adjoining bar and restaurant which was not affected by the collapse.
