The Ballon d’Or award for this year was won by Karim Benzema, the captain of Real Madrid, by a margin of 356 votes.
Benzema triumphed over Sadio Mane to take first place.
It is the second biggest win in the history of the award, only topped by Cristiano Ronaldo’s win by 429 votes in 2016.
After scoring 44 goals for Real Madrid last season in all competitions as they won both the LaLiga and the Champions League, Benzema received 549 votes.
Following his contribution to Manchester City’s championship victory, Kevin De Bruyne took third place, 18 votes behind Mane.
Mo Salah finished fifth, just five votes ahead of Robert Lewandowski, who narrowly missed the podium.
