The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has confirmed that he was ambushed on Friday afternoon in Auchi, Edo State, by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
Suleman, who called the incident an “assassination attempt,” asserted that the shooters sidetracked his convoy and fired directly at him.
The controversial cleric who made this statement in a video claimed that the bulletproof car he was riding in was his only means of escape.
Suleman further explained that the multiple bullets that were fired at him left marks on the bulletproof vehicle.
According to reports, a Friday afternoon attack on the preacher’s convoy in Auchi resulted in the deaths of four police officers and two other people.
According to an online blog based in Edo North, the incident along Auchi-Warake road, close to Auchi.
Besides the four police operatives who were security details, the two other victims were said to be a yet-to-be-identified lady and the driver of one of the vehicles in the convoy.
AfemaiReporters further reported that men of the Vigilante group at Ivbiaro, in Owan East Local Government of the state, later apprehended and lynched one of the suspected gunmen.
Another unconfirmed source also added that the hoodlums “have been apprehended by men of the Nigerian Army”, who allegedly chased after them immediately they got wind of the attack, and have been taken to the Auchi Police Area Command as at 6:47pm.
But this has not been confirmed.
As at the time of filling this report, the Edo State Police Command spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor could not pick calls made to him for confirmation, as he kept cutting the call.
