A truck driver has reportedly taken to his heels after killing three people in Ikirun, Osun state.
The truck was said to be coming from Offa, Kwara State to Osun State on Friday when the incident happened.
The accident occurred around Emiloju Area, Ikirun when the truck driver allegedly lost control and hit two persons on a motorcycle and a passerby sparked a protest.
The truck driver was said to have fled immediately after the incident.
Some residents were infuriated by the incident and embarked on protest.
The irate protesters attempted to hijack from the police some of the occupants of the truck who were initially rescued from the scene.
Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Paul Okpe, confirmed the accident, saying the truck was coming from Offa to Osun.
Okpe said, “Three people lost their lives. Two of them were on a motorcycle and the last one was just walking near the road. We lost lives due to reckless driving. We will keep engaging with the leadership of the truck drivers in the state to ensure safety on the road.”
