Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker from Kaduna Central Senatorial District, confirmed that gunmen attacked the convoy of Omega Fire Ministries’ General Overseer, Apostle Johnson Suleman, on Friday.
WITHIN NIGERIA, it was previously reported that gunmen opened fire on the cleric’s convoy on Friday as he was returning from a trip.
Seven people were killed in the incident, including three police officers.
While reacting to the incident, Sani expressed his condolences to the families of those who died in the attack.
Former lawmaker who thanked God for Apostle Suleman’s life condemned the cleric’s assassination.
Sani claims to have spoken with Apostle Suleman, who confirmed that the attack was an assassination attempt.
The former lawmaker revealed that the cleric told him in their conversation that an arrest had been made in connection with the attack.
Sani in a post on his Twitter account wrote;
We thank God for the life of Apostle Suleiman. My condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. The attack is condemnable.
