Transfer: Erling Haaland tipped to become first £1bn player

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland has been sensationally predicted by Rafaela Pimenta to be the first player to bring in a transfer fee close to £1 billion.

Haaland moved to Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund over the summer in a deal worth more than £50 million, and he has already scored 20 goals for his new team.

Despite his impressive history at Dortmund and other clubs, the rampant start to life at City has surprised fans, as many had predicted he would need to adapt to the City and English football styles.

Haaland, who is only 22 years old, appears to be on track for an illustrious career with a talent that hasn’t yet reached its peak. His smooth transition to Premier League football has only raised his profile and served as further evidence of his extraordinary talent, which, in Pimenta’s opinion, makes him a valuable commodity.

Speaking to Sky Sports, she made a lofty prediction: “If you put together his [Haaland’s] football value, his image value, his sponsor value, it is for sure one billion.

“And if you compare also with that, it’s normal to compare Erling with [Kylian] Mbappe, so you have a little bit of an idea of the market.

“I think Erling will be the first player to achieve a transfer that will be around £1bn.”
