Ten kidnapped women and a one-year-old child have been freed from the bandits’ hideout in the Gando forest of the state’s Bukkuyum Local Government Area thanks to the Zamfara State Police Command.
According to Mr. Kolo Yusuf, the Commissioner of Police, after lengthy search and rescue efforts at the Gando Forest in the State’s Bukkuyum Local Government Area, police officers were successful in saving the victims.
“On Monday, 17th October, 2022 , a group of bandits invaded Manye village in Anka Local Government Area and abducted ten women and a one-year-old child to Gando forest in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the State where they spent three days in captivity.
“On receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police deployed additional Police Tactical operatives to reinforce DPO Anka and vigilantes in their rescue operation, a task that was successfully accomplished with the full support of stakeholders, especially the Sole Administrator of Anka Local Government Area.
“All the rescued victims were taken to the hospital for medical check, debriefed by Police detectives and handed over their families,” the police said in a statement.
The Commissioner of Police, while commending the sole Administrator, Anka Local Government Area for the full support and partnership during the rescue operation, congratulated the victims for regaining their freedom, assuring that all the perpetrators will be apprehended and charged to court.
