A leader of Peoples Democratic Party Olabode George, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has advised political parties to suspend their campaigns in order to honour flood victims across the country.
The former PDP Deputy National Chairman urged his party, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and other political parties to pause their campaigns to emulate the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
George made this decision during an interview with Sunday Politics on Channels TV on Sunday.
The PDP chieftain urged presidential candidates to visit the states affected by the flooding disaster that has ravaged several parts of the country.
He said:
If you are campaigning to win the hearts of the Nigerian people, anything that will affect their state of mind should be your major concern.
Atiku Commences Tours Of Flood Impacted States
On Tuesday, the PDP presidential candidate and former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, will begin a tour of states with high flooding incidents across the country’s geopolitical zones.
According to a press release issued by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, the PDP presidential candidate will begin his tour in Bayelsa State.
According to one, the tours to flood-ravaged states have become necessary due to the trauma that the incidents have caused their victims.
He stated that the tours will provide the presidential candidate with an on-the-spot impact assessment of these flooding incidents and a window to incorporate those ecological concerns into his policy documents.
