Saheed Oladeji, a middle-aged man, was saved on Monday after attempting suicide by plunging into the Osun river.
Oladeji was saved from suicide attempts three times in all. On Monday, he dove into the Osun River between the Gbodofon Bridge and the Osogbo/Gbongan Road.
Shukrah, an eyewitness, stated to The Nation: “On Monday morning, Oladeji plunged into the river. He was pulled from the river by the State Fire Service after locals in the area called them right away. He manages a car wash. The men from the State Fire Service dragged him out of the river.
Oladeji stated in a video that he is from Iwinjobi’s Osogbo compound.
He said: “I have a wife and children who are based in Lagos. I don’t want any cash donations from anybody. I am fine.”
Osun Fire Service spokesperson Ibrahim Adekunle confirmed the incident.
He said: “That will be the third time that Oladeji will attempt suicide. We have rescued him twice.”
He also said a rescue operation is ongoing for a man who jumped into a river in Ede on Sunday afternoon while the corpse of a lady that jumped into Osun river last week has been found around Ebunoluwa area.
