Festus Keyamo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council spokesman, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, of plotting to divide the country.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that Keyamo made the accusation in response to a remark made by Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, a PDP chieftain, on Monday.
During the inauguration of the PDP Governorship Campaign Council in Edo, Obaseki stated that if the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, was elected in 2023, Nigeria would be broken up.
The governor said that if the APC returns to power in 2023, Nigerians’ heads should be examined after their ‘poor performance’ in government over the last seven years.
On Tuesday, Keyamo used his verified Twitter account to refute Obaseki’s claim that Tinubu wants to divide the country, emphasizing that the governor was mistaken.
Following his statement that the North does not need a Yoruba or an Igbo as President in 2023, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment stated that Atiku is the one who wants to separate Nigeria.
Keyamo added that the former Vice President has been promising a chameleonic South-South and South-East presidency in 2027 or 2031.
He wrote:
Your Excellency, I disagree. Your candidate that already asked Northerners not to vote for Yoruba or Igbo candidates and that has been promising both South-South and South East Presidency in 2027 or 2031 in a chameleonic way is the very person that wants to break up Nigeria. Chikena.
