2023: Muslim-Muslim Ticket Is A Time Bomb To Nigeria’s Unity – Babangida Aliyu

Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu

Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, the former Governor of Niger State, has urged voters to avoid voting on the same faith ticket in the upcoming general elections.

Aliyu made the remarks while welcoming the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential group of Atiku/Okowa to his Minna residence.

According to the former governor, the Muslim-Muslim ticket is a no-no for Nigeria’s unity.

He described Muslim-Muslim candidacy as a ticking time bomb for the country’s unity, resulting in injustice and unfairness.

Aliyu argued that Nigeria has two major religious faiths, Christianity and Islam and that such a trend would further destabilize the country.

His words;

As a nationalist, and a Muslim, such is a sentiment that would encourage divide and rule without a sense of reasoning and respect for Christians and pleaded with all well meaning Nigerians to reject the same faith ticket in its entirety.

As a Muslim, I would not have thought of voting for anything like Christian/Christian ticket and I wondered why the ruling party would ever conceive what they would not take if presented to any of them individually or collectively.

And, anybody who is supporting same faith ticket, be it Muslim or Christian, does not mean well for Nigeria because doing so only amounts to promoting; injustice, lack of fairness and equity for adherents of other religions.
