Six States—Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Rivers, Katsina, and Oyo—have the highest numbers of registered voters ahead of the general elections in 2023, according to an analysis of the preliminary register.
According to checks, Lagos has the most registered voters with 7,075,192, followed by Kano with 5,927,565 and Kaduna, Rivers, Katsina, and Oyo with 4,345,469, 3,532,990, 3,519,260, and 3,275,045, respectively.
The revelation comes on the heels of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, revealing that the voter register had increased to 93.5 million.
Yakubu announced this on Wednesday during the commission’s quarterly meeting with political parties in Abuja.
He also stated that the commission is working hard to ensure the completion of printing of remaining Permanent Voter Cards for new voters, adding that Nigerians would soon be informed of the detailed plan to ensure a seamless collection of the PVCs.
