Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), has stated that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has formed a committee to compile all allegations of accidental air strikes on civilians.
This was stated by NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, in a statement issued on Thursday.
Amao, who announced at the start of the 2022 Air Operations Seminar in Uyo, said the committee would investigate the circumstances that led to such strikes.
He stated that the investigation would provide far-reaching recommendations to reduce future collateral damage incidents to civilians during NAF operations.
According to Amao, the investigation aimed to promote accountability and allow NAF to learn valuable lessons to avoid and mitigate similar cases in the future.
He said that the investigation would allow the NAF to take extra precautions to reduce civilian harm and casualties in conflict zones.
