The family of Mr. Promise John has filed a complaint with the Delta Police Command regarding the removal of their deceased child’s organs in an Asaba hospital.
The alleged conduct allegedly took place on October 10 following the death of a newborn boy admitted to the El-Comfort Hospital.
According to John, the infant was brought there on September 29 but passed away 11 days later in the intensive care unit, where he was given oxygen.
He claimed that the eyes, ears, and portions of the face had been removed by the time they arrived at the health center with the corpse.
“We reported the matter to the police, but with the way the police was going about the case, it seemed they were trying to deny us justice.”
The father said the matter was now in court, but the police only charged the nurses on duty without joining the hospital.
John, who wants the management charged as well, added that the nurses had been released on bail.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed that the matter is ongoing in court.
“The nurses on duty were arrested and had been charged to court, so there is no point joining the hospital”, NAN quoted him saying.
