Khadijat Okunnu-Lamidi, a former Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, claims that Nigerian authorities wrongfully took part of her assets because she is running for president.
Okunnu-Lamidi is the daughter of Lateef Olufemi Okunnu, a Federal Commissioner of Works (SAN). She was the first woman to express interest in the 2023 presidency in January. Prince Adewole Adebayo, the SDP’s eventual presidential flag-bearer, defeated her, though.
Some of the things I’ve been doing have been under embargo. But because that’s what business does and because you have to be sustainable in everything you do, I’ve chosen to work on my business. Additionally, you can’t rely on official favoritism.
“We are trying to clamour that everyone has equal rights. I don’t have so right to anything. So, I need to move forward,” Okunnu-Lamidi told Punch
