The management of Air Peace has explained why its Lagos-Owerri bound flight with no P47154, which departed the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, made an air return on Wednesday.
In a statement by the management of the airline, it said the emergency return was due to engine failure
It explained that the aircraft was already airborne when the crew experienced a bleed in air challenge which promoted the flight to return to Lagos to rectify the fault.
The statement further noted that the aircraft landed safely without infringement and passengers disembarked safely and another aircraft was deployed immediately to operate the flight.
While apologising to its affected customers, the airline management said, “We understand the passengers panic that results from situations like this and we regret the inconveniences that followed. However, it is very important to state that air return is not an unsafe practice. It is in fact a recommended safety precautionary measures if the pilots are not satisfied with any fault or event experienced on a flight.
“Airpeace is strictly committed to safety and never compromises on this.”
The General Manager Public Affairs Accident Investigation Bureau, Tunji Oketunbi, said,” Nothing from Airpeace.”
