Ekiti State Supplementary Appropriation Bill of N21billion for 2022 has scaled the second reading at the House of Assembly.
Deputy Speaker Hakeem Jamiu, who presided at the plenary yesterday, informed the lawmakers of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s request to approve the supplementary budget.
The House Leader, Gboyega Aribisogan, representing Ikole Constituency 1, moved the motion for the bill to be committed to the whole house. It was seconded by Tajudeen Akingbolu, representing Ekiti West Constituency 1.
Aribisogan said the bill should be approved because of serious issues it sought to address, urging the lawmakers to pass the bill expeditiously in the interest of the state.
The legislators unanimously agreed with his submission and referred the bill to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation to report back to the House within one week.
Meanwhile, Governor Oyebanji has appointed Mr. Rufus Olatona as the chairman of the Internal Revenue Service.
Oyebanji, who made the announcement in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, said the appointment takes effect from November 1, 2022.
Olatona, who hails from Okemesi- Ekiti, is a chartered accountant and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy from the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos (1992), and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (2010).
Olatona, until his appointment, was the Group Chief Financial Officer, Loatsad Promomedia Lted, a Lagos-based company with interests in advertising and multimedia.
