Opeyemi Ajakaye of the Flamingos was named Player of the Match after Nigeria defeated Germany on Sunday.
In their third-place match at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, the Flamingos gave up a three-goal advantage but won 3-2 on penalties.
Ajakaye scored her side’s opening goal of the game on 20 minutes. The 16-year-old also converted from the spot in the shootout.
It’s the third time she has won the award in the competition. She is also expected to be named in the team of the tournament.
