Tony Cascarino, a former Chelsea star, has urged Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, to temporarily remove Harvey Elliott and Joe Gomez from his team.
Elliott, according to Cascarino, lacked the level of skill a Liverpool midfielder should have, and Gomez has been way too inconsistent thus far this year.
Liverpool’s performance in the Premier League thus far this year has been underwhelming.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have picked only 16 points from 12 matches to sit in the ninth position on the log after their latest Premier League defeat to Leeds United.
“After being inferior to Liverpool for most of Klopp’s tenure, [Manchester] United are now seven points ahead of their bitter foes, and I think they will finish the higher of the two this season,” Cascarino said in his column for the Times (via LiverpoolEcho).
“Klopp must give up on some players, at least for now. Harvey Elliott is a really exciting prospect, but he’s 19 and cannot yet reach the levels demanded of a Liverpool starter. Joe Gomez was outstanding in the win over Manchester City but has been dreadful for the rest of the season.”
