Niger: Military foils cantonment attack, kills three terrorists

The military, both air and land forces, foiled a terrorists attack on a cantonment at Wawa, Niger State, on Saturday midnight.

It was gathered that no fewer than two terrorists were killed during a gun duel that ensued between the hoodlums and the military.

According to PUNCH, a source said several terrorists fled with gunshot wounds and a manhunt had been launched for them.

“Some were arrested immediately after the foiled attack, while more were arrested alive in Gada Oli bush in the afternoon,” the source added.

Also, a situation report said the terrorists came with a vehicle loaded with Improvised Explosive Devices.

The signal read in part, “Two Motorola radios were captured, an unconfirmed number of ammunition were recovered, and two vehicles; one of the vehicles was laden with IED, bombs, and an aircraft gun.

“The facility and commodities are safe. NAF’s super Tucano and surveillance aircraft are on patrol around the area.”
