In the previous 24 hours, the Anglican Communion of Nigeria has lost two bishops.
The deceased include Most Reverend Humphrey Olumakaiye, Archbishop of Lagos Province, Anglican Communion, Bishop of Lagos Diocese, and Bishop of Ndokwa Diocese, Rev. David Obiosa.
At the age of 53, Olumakaiye passed away.
Segun Ladeinde, the Synod Secretary, and Justice Adedayo Oyebanji, the Chancellor, both made the announcement of his passing.
The specifics of his funeral would soon be made public, according to a statement that was co-signed by Ladeinde and Oyebanji.
The statement reads: “His Episcopal sojourn in the Diocese of Lagos and subsequently the Province was characterised by phenomenal, physical and spiritual developments, for which all of us shall remain very proud.”
The deceased was born on January 28, 1969.
He was elected for translation into the Diocese of Lagos in February 2018, and enthroned as the eighth Bishop of Lagos in 2018.
At the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos, Olumakaiye was crowned.
He was formally installed in the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Gwarimpa, on September 25, 2021, making him the Archbishop of the Province of Lagos as well.
On Monday night, it was also learned about Bishop Obiosa’s passing.
The specifics of his passing and burial have not been made public as of the time this article was filed.
