The All Progressives Congress (APC) is shrouded in secrecy, and Nigerians cannot put their trust in it, according to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The country’s main opposition said in a statement on Wednesday that APC presidential running mate Kashim Shettima was acting like he had amnesia when he questioned the ability of PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to unite Nigeria.
WITHIN NIGERIA, it is understood that Shettima and his principal, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, stated on Tuesday that Atiku cannot unite Nigeria because he cannot unite his party.
The APC leaders made the remarks yesterday during a meeting with private-sector players in Lagos. Dele Momodu, Director of Strategic Communications for the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign, suggests Shettima has amnesia in a swift response to the APC presidential candidate and his running mate.
Momodu responded by saying Shettima tried to point fingers at the specks in another man’s eyes while ignoring the specks in his own.
The PDP insists the APC is in total disarray, with prominent members openly apologizing to Nigerians for ‘unmitigated disaster”.
According to the PDP chieftain, it took almost forever for the ruling party to constitute its Presidential Campaign Council due to disunity.
It is very obvious that APC has become completely rudderless and many self-respecting members are jumping ship and being recovered by PDP, he said.
Momodu emphasized that the platform cannot unite Nigerians if they disregard the democratic and voting rights of certain ethnic groups within their domains.
The chieftain said everything about APC and its candidates was shrouded in secrecy, and “they are just unable to tell Nigerians the truth”.
How can Nigerians be expected to place their faith in such mysterious characters? he said.
The PDP dares Tinubu and Shettima to point out businesses they managed successfully, “except living outlandishly on government booty and largesse”.
How can APC be expected to guarantee the safety of lives and properties?” Momodu added that while Shettima was Borno Governor, Boko Haram became “an intractable menace Nigeria is yet to fully recover from.
