The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) secretariat was shut down by the Edo State government on Friday due to leadership disputes.
The state security agencies were also instructed by the government to arrest any individuals or groups who disobeyed the order.
This comes after some council members who felt mistreated opposed the purported scheme by powerful people to install a crony as the next leadership of the council.
The government stated that the decision was essential as a result of the leadership succession crisis roiling the state chapter of the NYCN in a statement released by its Commissioner for Youth and Gender Issues, Andrew Emwanta.
Emwanta added that the Transition Management Committee, which was set up to organize the Youth Council election, will operate from a location to be provided by the supervising ministry.”
