Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu expressed his happiness after scoring four goals in KRC Genk’s 4-1 victory over Sporting Charleroi on Friday night at the Cegeka Arena.
Since 2003, no Genk player had accomplished the feat before Onuachu.
The 27-year-old scored the Smurfs’ first goal from the penalty spot after nine minutes, and he added the team’s second goal ten minutes before halftime.
The forward added two more goals in the second half. Onuachu has now scored 12 goals in the Belgian Pro League this season.
He scored all the goals in his last seven outings for the club.
“If I could remember this is the first time of scoring four goals, there’s always first time for everything,” Onuachu said during the post match press conference.
“I’m very happy of course to get four goals and the three points for the team. I am very happy that the team played a good game and I’m happy for my goals.”
Genk now have 43 points from 16 matches, while second-placed Antwerp are on 33 points with a game in hand.
