After scoring in Napoli’s 2-1 win over Atalanta on Saturday night, Victor Osimhen became the highest-scoring Nigerian in Serie A history.
Osimhen scored a hat-trick in Napoli’s 4-1 victory over Sassuolo last weekend to tie Simy Nwankwo, a former Crotone forward, for the league lead in goals with 31.
The 23-year-old moved ahead of Simy Nwankwo to 32 goals after his first-half strike at the Gewiss Stadium.
The forward conceded a penalty, which was converted by his compatriot, Ademola Lookman, on nine minutes.
However, Osimhen quickly made up for his mistake by drawing Napoli level, as he was allowed a free header on a Piotr Zielinskin floated cross from a corner.
