Gunmen abduct female passenger in Ogun

Gunmen have abduct a female passenger identified as Hannah Opeyemi, from a car at Soyoye, in Abeokuta-North Local Government area of the Ogun State.

The incident happened when the gunmen attacked a legal practitioner, Sanni Boladale, at the gate of his residence.

It was gathered that the kidnappers suddenly emerged from where they hid and pounced on the lawyer while he was about to enter his premises.

He, however, reportedly struggled with them and ran away, while the woman, who was still in the car, was taken away by the hoodlums.

According to PUNCH, a resident, who identified herself simply as Bukola, said the incident occurred around 7.30pm on Friday.

She, however, said the whereabouts of the woman was unknown as the abductors had yet to reach out to her family.

Soyoye, which has a road linking Ayetoro to Isaga, Ibara-Orile and Sokoto, has become notorious as kidnappers have turned the area to their operational base.

Within the last one year, residents, including the son of a renowned medical doctor, a retired lecturer, a policewoman, a nurse, a medical doctor and many travellers, have been kidnapped and released after ransoms were paid.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident said the command had begun moves to rescue the victim and ensure the arrest of the kidnappers.
