The renaming of the ministry of trade and industry has been approved by Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State.
According to reports, the state executive council meeting on Monday was when the approval was reportedly provided.
Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, the state’s secretary, made this claim in a press statement on Tuesday.
He said: “The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi will henceforth be addressed as the Commissioner for Industry.
“The Executive Council Meeting of State Government, approved the renaming of the Ministry yesterday.”
He said the decision was to enable the Ministry of Industry to focus on the industrialization agenda of the governor, and for greater performance, without bothering about trade and commerce, which used to be part of the ministry.
This is as the trade and commerce aspect of the ministry will now be domiciled under the Governor’s Office.
Chukwulobelu said: “By implication, all activities relating to trade and commerce should be channeled to the Governor’s Office. This reorganization is with immediate effect.”
