The Police in Borno have released a sheep detained for feasting on fried fish in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council of the state capital.
The fried fish belonged to one Malam Yusuf Ibrahim, a fish seller in the Bulabulin neighbourhood in the state capital.
Ibrahim had caused commotion on Saturday by reporting the sheep to the police and demanding it arrest. He said the sheep had been consistently eating up his fried fish for months.
The fish seller had complained bitterly that the sheep belonging to Luba Mohammed of the same Bulabulin neighbourhood had caused him losses by raiding his selling point and taking mouthfuls of fried fish for upward of five months.
It was, however, after the sheep raided his fish on Saturday that he finally decided to involve the police.
The police subsequently arrested the sheep and detained it overnight.
Ibrahim confirmed to newsmen that elders in the community succeeded in persuading him to forgive the transgression.
The owner of the sheep, Luba Mohammed had mobilised community elders to intercede.
The fish seller said he had given conditions that what happened should not repeat itself.
It was released on Sunday by the Bulabulin Divisional Police Headquarters after Ibrahim settled with its owner.
Meanwhile, Honourable Husseini Monguno who is a member of the Board of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, has rewarded the fish seller with N50,000 because of his magnanimity
