The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has rescued four minors from human traffickers and arrested one suspect.

NSCDC Sokoto State Commandant Mohammed Dada confirmed this at a press conference in Sokoto on Tuesday.

The children were spotted by NSCDC personnel at the Sokoto Central Market planning to board a vehicle to Illela Local Government Area with the suspect, according to Dada.

He said:

The suspect, Abdulfatai Adeyemi, told our men that they are from South West heading to Niger Republic through Illela border.

He confessed that he received the minor girls from one Alfa in Lagos State, who asked him to deliver them to somebody in Sokoto.

Dada also stated that the command is working hard to apprehend all other suspects in connection with the crime.

He urged parents and teachers to avoid putting their children on such perilous journeys, describing such actions as harmful and not likely to end well for the victim even if they survive.
