Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has said that the electorate would disgrace parties with votes if they were unable to organize legitimate primaries.

They were attempting to reap where they had not sown, he said.

Sanwo-Olu spoke at the opening of the 20-unit, two-bedroom Love Gardens flats in Surulere, which were constructed by the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC).

The governor said: “We can see some parties who cannot conduct primary election, but now looking to reap where they have not planted. We don’t need to give them the dignity of mentioning their names, but we will deal with them in Surulere.

“I want to thank the residents for supporting our government because we know when elections come, you will be voting for our candidates in all the elections.”

The governor, who also opened a vocational training centre built by the LSDPC at Owolewa Street in Surulere, said redevelopment of the abandoned land helped to solve a major security threat in the area.

He said the transformation showed his administration’s commitment to urban regeneration and infrastructural renewal.

“The land on which this project is sited used to be a security liability for residents. It was previously a school compound before the school was moved away. But today, this elegant residential edifice is the outcome of the collaboration between LSDPC and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). We have created an enabling environment for government agencies to collaborate with the private sector in order to reduce the housing needs of our people. Now, beneficiaries of this scheme can raise their family in this nice ambience and serene environment. Community members will also live in harmony, as we have eliminated a major threat to their peace.”

Sanwo-Olu promised that more housing projects would be inaugurated before the end of the year, urging beneficiaries to maintain the structure and encourage activities that would sustain the investment.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LSDPC, Ayodeji Joseph, said the housing scheme was built to reflect simplicity and elegance, while also being complemented by contemporary infrastructure.
